Phantom Blade Zero Release Date, Launch Times and Platforms

Phantom Blade Zero launches on October 29, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and PC. Sony's announcement carries a footnote: the United States and select regions get it a day earlier, and Steam still shows the October 28 date. The final trailer has now pinned the schedule — preload on October 27, digital unlock on October 29 — and confirmed PS5 discs for 2027. Below is everything confirmed about unlocking, storefronts, preload size and the physical editions.

Two dates are in circulation because the game unlocks at a single moment worldwide while local clocks disagree about what day that is. Neither date is a delay — they describe the same unlock.

When does Phantom Blade Zero unlock?

The official date is October 29, 2026. Sony's PlayStation Blog post announcing the date adds an asterisk: October 28 across the US and some regions. Steam's US listing also reads October 28 — consistent with a single worldwide unlock that lands on the evening of the 28th in North America.

The final trailer, released on October 22, 2026, officially sets the schedule: preload opens at 10:00 on October 27 on all platforms, and the digital version unlocks at 10:00 on October 29 China time. That matches the earlier community leak of 02:00 UTC. The exact local hour for October 28 access in the US and other western regions has not been published, so once preload begins, the countdown on your own store page is the most reliable check.

Why the US date is a day earlier

Games sold worldwide usually unlock at a fixed instant rather than at local midnight. When that instant falls late in the UTC day, regions west of the prime meridian see it on the previous calendar day — which is why a US player can be in the game on the 28th while a player in Asia waits until the 29th. If you are arranging time off or a download window, work from the store countdown, not the headline date.

Which platforms and storefronts sell it?

At launch, the game releases on PlayStation 5 and PC. On PC, S-GAME's own pre-order announcement names both Steam and the Epic Games Store. Mainland China also gets a WeGame release — the platform tied to the region's collector's box. No official material mentions an Xbox version or a Game Pass release; reports claiming otherwise come from community summaries, not from the platform holders.

Steam lists the game as single-player only — no co-op or multiplayer categories — and supports Steam Cloud, Family Sharing, achievements and full controller input, including DualSense features. Interface and subtitle text are available in thirteen languages, while full audio is limited to English and Simplified Chinese.

Preload and download size

The final trailer confirms preload on all platforms from 10:00 on October 27, two days ahead of launch. Storefront data from the PlayStation Game Size account puts the PS5 download at 134.857 GB. That figure comes from the console's own interface rather than a press release, so a day-one patch could still change it.

On PC, an Epic backend leak reported a build of about 149.89 GB and 151.50 GB of required free space. That figure is Unconfirmed and applies to one storefront only; Steam may package the game differently. The one official PC rule is that an SSD is mandatory, so budget the space on a fast drive, not a mechanical one.

Is there a physical disc?

There is no disc at launch — the game ships digitally only on October 29. But the final trailer confirmed that PlayStation 5 physical editions will arrive in 2027, in three tiers: a Standard edition, a Deluxe edition, and an Ultimate Collector's Steelbook. Pricing and an exact 2027 window for the discs have not been announced.

Mainland China gets a separate collector's box at launch, but it is not a disc edition. The set costs 1,199 yuan, is limited to 20,000 units and includes a WeGame Digital Deluxe code instead of a disc, plus a 1/12 scale Soul figure, a Blazing Lion Head necklace, a White Serpent & Crimson Viper keychain and a weapon handbook. First-batch orders were scheduled to ship before October 29, with a second batch promised by the end of December.

What about PS5 Pro, PS Plus and Game Pass?

No PS5 Pro enhancement has been announced. Some Chinese retail listings describe the game as running on "PS5, including PS5 Pro," but that is backward compatibility, not a confirmed enhanced mode.

There is also no official word on a PlayStation Plus catalog appearance, and nothing from Microsoft about Game Pass. A community leak claims there is no Xbox version and no subscription launch, which fits the absence of any official announcement, but it remains Unconfirmed until a platform holder says otherwise.

Price at a glance

RegionStandardDigital Deluxe
United States$59.99$69.99
Hong KongHK$328HK$398
Mainland China¥268¥328

Regional prices reflect different tax treatment, so converting between them is not a reliable comparison. The Chinese standard edition has also appeared at a promotional 258 yuan through one retailer; that is a store discount, not the list price.

What to expect from performance on day one

Pre-release PC previews disagree on stability. One outlet reported infrequent but severe frame drops on capable hardware, while another held a steady 60 fps at 4K on maximum settings on a top-tier machine. NVIDIA's launch driver advertises DLSS 4.5, dynamic multi-frame generation and path tracing support for the PC version, with a recommended RTX 5080 for 2160p path-traced play. Nothing in the official material promises a fixed frame rate, so a refund window is a reasonable safety net if you buy on PC.

What is still unconfirmed

  • The exact local unlock hour for the October 28 access in the US and other western regions.
  • Whether a PS5 Pro enhanced mode exists.
  • The final installed size on PC.
  • Pricing and a firm month for the 2027 PS5 physical editions.
  • The review embargo date; a late-October date has been reported but not confirmed.

Every date and size above either comes from an official announcement or is explicitly flagged as reported. Values reported by storefront trackers can change with patches.
